The word “revolution” reflects an essential change in the structure of an association, or in the basic shape or model structure of such a commodity as cars or computers.  A revolution is obviously followed by a series of changes in most fields affected by this process. A good example of fields that experience a change is the economy sector of a country, the culture of people living around the revolutionized area and the political structure of that country.

Modernism is the state characterized by revolution phases distinguished according to the development of new technologies. It ensures that these upheavals are done under the influence of the time, or that revolutions are done having in mind the need to meet the demands of the current generation. For example, laptops were invented in reference to the great need of having to meet high demands for having a computerized world. Laptops were found to be more efficient, since they were easy to carry compared to the first computer that lacked a lot of features unlike laptops. The old design of computers was also heavy and bulky; thus, it involved a lot of energy to move it from one place to another.  New models of vehicles are also influenced by the same issue of trying to fulfill the current generations’ desires to have most as part of their live.  Photographs appeared a long time ago playing the same role.

The first photograph was taken 180 years ago. At that time, photographs were taken using proto-photography techniques. These were mechanisms mostly used for drawing, since artists would use it to look at objects and later draw what they saw on the wall. This device was invented by Alhazen .It was relevant, since this invention was mostly used for viewing inverted objects. This super capability of ensuring that inverted pictures were viewable made it famous among the most people in the world. In 1826, the first world photograph was taken by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce. The picture was known as “over the window view”, but its texture was very rough, and the pioneer was forced to develop it to be better. The picture also took long to be ready, since it had first to be placed under sunlight in order to get dry for eight hours. Later on, a new technology was invented, and the technique of taking pictures through the use of a daguerreotype was invented. This also took long before pictures were ready. One had to pause for 15 minutes before having your image captured; the technique also required one’s head to be held by a clamp to ensure that he did not make any single move. The first adopters of this method were those interested in taking erotic pictures. This was the method used to take the first human picture in the world.

In 1839, Sir John Frederick William Herschel invented new terms in relation to photography, such as a negative and snapshot. Through his invention, various negatives were used in order to make one image. Using this technology, the first aerial picture was invented, where five negatives were used to make one single image. Photographs were also used to enhance or urge people to involve themselves in body building activities. For example, after the first carte-de-visite photo presenting a healthy man, who seemed to be involved in fitness activities, most people became determined to acquire the same look as him.

Photography has undergone through a great transformation, which seemed to bring a positive change into the activity. In 1872, a colored photo was taken by Louis ducos du Hauron. This new invention led to the birth of photojournalism. Other inventions, like a photographic gun, Mammoth camera and many others, led to the development of photography up to its state in the current digital world.

In relation to the diminutive history of photography, we can contend that with time the old mechanisms have been outdone by technology. At my exhibition, the pictures represent how the old sense of photographs has come to be outdone and their relevance to the modern state of photographs. The history also reveals the revolution that took place in the field of photography, and modernism that highly influenced most actions and the development conditioned by developers. This is because the fact that as time passed by, a new method of taking pictures was invented trying to fix the problems noted previously.

The room is underground, quiet and very dark, such that only the pictures, which are seen hanging on the walls, are lightened; everything else in the room is invisible. This kind of environment has been chosen, since this would help the viewers have a better understanding of the kind of development, through which photographs had undergone. The old photography phases have passed, and the dark environment will work best to represent that. This time is long gone, and a lot have replaced what was termed as classic in the past years. The new photography phases will be stored in a lighted room upstairs. It will be where the development, taking place since modernism has started influencing the photography department, will be placed. The two environments will highly contribute to showing, which is an advanced technique brought by the revolution in photography. The upstairs room is lighted. It shows that this is the current and existing photography development, created at a very far place. Developers have the goal of having photography simplified and enjoyable.  The light can also be used to show the advantages and brightness that developments have brought into our lives.

In the picture “Running horse” by Edward Muybridge, twelve cameras were used and a string attached to all their switches in such a way that whenever the horse stepped on the string, a shot was triggered. This picture was used to capture the moment and the activities that take place when the horse in a mad dash. Through this picture, Edward could recognize that when the horse was running, all his hooves were off the ground. This was a great achievement, since no other person had ever tried taking a picture of any moving object. This picture really took time before being made successfully. It has been the main motivation to the movie industry and film production. After Muybridge had achieved his missions, he did not concentrate on how his film would be modified and be of great help to the film production industry. Therefore, when other developer heard of his achievements, he got interested, and after some time cellulose nitrate was discovered. This helped a lot in the development of movies, since pictures of moving people started being common. This helped to outdo the common principle of moving pictures and advanced it to the technology level of being able to capture pictures of people running or objects in motion. In reference to this picture, motion pictures cameras were invented and helped to capture all images in a single reel film, unlike cameras used by Muybridge, when one had to look into a drum that used to be turned by a hand crank to have a clear view of twenty-four images. With time, a motion picture projector was also developed among many other developments in the movie industry. This idea helped people understand that they could control time with the help of photographs.

Nadar, a well-known photographer, who took part in the development of new technology-related cameras, introduced a new way of taking pictures from above. This mechanism helpedpeople view the world in a different dimension that they had used to do before. In the fourth image, we can see this man taking pictures from a balloon, which is above the ground. This technique helped people have another view of the world.

Photography revolutions also brought along other beneficial factors; the transportation sector was developed to help people move faster. Trains were created to help people get from one place to another. The communication sector was also modernized through the innovation of trains. Message sending was made easier, since trains ran from one city to another.  

The technology involved in the photography sphere has helped people change their characters and personality. For example, in the picture three we can see a lady in a bar. Through this picture, we can conclude that women have become more active and stronger in comparison with how they were portrayed in the past years. Women have been encouraged and enlightened that they can also be equally ambitious as men, rather than just sitting in the house and waiting to be provided by their husbands. The development of photography has also led to the creation of a hardworking community. This development has positively influenced and resulted into great changes in the economy and cultural fields of different countries. In the past, in various communities, women were presented as weak human beings, who were not allowed to own anything on their own. The picture clearly shows that modernism has brought a difference in most women’s lives, and made them come out of their cocoon and acquire competitive characters that men have.   

Pablo Picasso also played a great role in the development of photography ensuring that art is presented in a modern manner. His painting was the first cubist picture, which was used to represent the nature of five African women. Picasso thought that these women possessed moreout of their culture, but were less modernized and stylish compared to the complex culture. This was the reason why he decided to involve the main principles of cubism to make the picture more decent at least. With time, we can see that people have gained the ability of changing a piece of work from its old look and making it presentable. Through these principles, visual art has been made decent without considering when this picture is taken and making the identity of those people involved in the nude picture preserved.  

“The Black Square” was unveiled in 1915. Malevich introduced it as a new style in the contemporary modernized world. Malevich argued that art should be a reflection of thoughts and one’s ideas. He challenged the common way that was used to represent art, having physical objects as the representation of art. He argued that representational art should be broken through and simplified to certain colors that would trigger people’s thoughts.

In the images six, seven and eight, we can recognize different designs of well-build houses that were designed and constructed by different people. In the image six, we can see “The Schroder House” by Gerrit Rietveld. To many people, this house was considered as the future design for their houses. This is because this house design was considered to have been chosen in accordance with the way, in which modern art and architecture demands were starting. The house in the image six was designed in such a way that inside, there was enough space per room, and this space was flexible, for example , the house had the capability of some of its walls falling and creating more space for children to play. At night, this walls were pushed back to their normal stations and created a room for bedrooms. It also had a staircase that was convertible. The designer designed it in a way that the outside doors were automatically connected to all bedrooms. Different colors were also used for each particular room. This made the house special in its own way. In the image seven, the house was designed in a way that all privaterooms were dark. He tried to take into consideration the way, in which the media presented a dark room or rather what was associated with darkness while planning the house. He also ensured that the house rhymed with some of the media works he did, as he equally related it to his works. His picture represents the urge to experiment with the technology that was characterized by the Bauhaus. The other house is unique in its own way, since it has a beautiful design; and, more so, its iron gate is the most captivating among all its other designs.

The three houses are very decent in their own way. The common thing among them was that they were all designed in a different way, but had the main aim of trying to fit and meet new expectations of modern art in places, where actions could take place. Technology has motivated and resulted into the architecture acquiring a new mood about designs offered to the contemporary world.  

In conclusion, photography has undergone through a series of developments. Since 1979, modernism has influenced the quality of photograph production in the market. This is because the urge to have a decent exhibition has risen, demanding the photography industry to innovate new methods of photo shooting. Some of the old methods of taking people pictures actually took a very long time before capturing the person’s image.  The daguerreotype in particular took long before it could shoot a single picture. As a result, this old system was found to be expensive and unsuitable: the two factors were considered while renovating the old photo shooting systems. In the contemporary world, digital cameras have emerged making the photo session more enjoyable than ever before. Photographs are one of the most common and effective methods of preserving the history either of a certain community, or old models of cars, houses, etc. This is because with a picture, you can explain better to a new generation how a certain thing came to be. Photographs are important, since they help in capturing the most hilarious and memorable moments in one’slife. This is because when a photo is taken today, the glory of those occasions and the feeling about that single day, which you experienced when photos were taken, are well-portrayed in the picture. Photography has also led to the diversity of new technologies, like cinematography.
