Healthy Food

I suppose every single student has faced the problem of eating poorly or unhealthy. Lack of time to cook and eat properly is one of the most concerning issues since it may have a negative effect not only on your health but also on your exam performance.

In order to keep energy levels up, many students succumb to junk food, energy drinks, lots of chocolate and crisps. This temptation is undoubtedly destructive. It can lead to severe health problems. So, instead of replacing normal meals, concentrate on your health and sleep. Focus on what you eat anytime you want to buy something unhealthy, especially during the finals week, when grades matter the most and the lack of food can affect your performance.

Here is a list of some food that is recommended for all college and university students during the most stressful weeks of the academic year.

Oil-Rich Fish

Salmon, mackerel, pilchards, tuna, sardines and trout are considered to be the healthiest types of fish. Due to the presence of protein and omega3, they are absolutely necessary for the brain to work well. Canned sardines can serve as a great snack that doesn’t take much of your time to be spread on some whole-wheat bread. Enjoy this tasty meal full of protein and vitamins!

Fruit and Vegetables

Instead of buying a chocolate bar, choose bananas, apples, berries, or avocados. They contain healthy sugars that are converted into the needed energy. All fruit and vegetables are energy-boosting and are healthy and full of vitamins, minerals, ions, liquids, etc.

The majority of students can’t boast of having cooking skills. “The only thing I can make is fried eggs.” If you possess this skill, it is a good start to get the right amount of nutrients, protein and antioxidants in the morning. Fried, poached or boiled eggs are all good brain food. Choose what type you feel like eating, cook it and enjoy.

Well, coffee is not technically a food, but it is better than any junk food or stomach-churning energy drink. Even coffee smell is helpful when you feel sleepy and need to wake up. It has also been proved that a few cups of coffee a day can be beneficial. The only warning is no overdosing. Moderation is the key to staying healthy.

Peanut Butter

The statement that peanut butter is unhealthy is a myth that needs to be debunked. Believe it or not, peanut butter contains plenty of healthy fats and protein. Therefore, it keeps you full for a rather long time. Another advantage of peanut butter is that it doesn’t expire too fast. So, you can keep it in your fridge or cupboard and have a spoon of it whenever you need more energy or feel hungry. If you like eating porridge for breakfast as I do, it is a good idea to mix it with some peanut butter to start the day.
